Screen Three

Screen Three focused on refining the route endorsed by the PAC, or Build Alternative, and identifying the transit technology, or technologies, that will best address the goals and objectives of the project. The Build Alternative, or PAC endorsed route, under consideration for Screen Three, presents the best overall option for traveling between St. Petersburg and Clearwater, through Pinellas Park, the Greater Gateway area, and Largo. However, due to factors such as engineering constraints, potential environmental considerations, or cost considerations, slight deviations from the designated route may be needed. Design alternatives were identified to address these issues, where needed.

To accurately measure the performance of the design alternative, it was evaluated against the same portion of the Build Alternative to determine which option should be retained as a design alternative, replace the Build Alternative, or be removed from consideration. Based on this analysis, the PAC endorsed the elimination of six design alternatives. One change was made to the Build Alternative in Downtown St. Petersburg, where the original Build Alternative (1st Avenue South) was removed and replaced with the 1st Avenue South/1st Avenue North Loop. The 1st Avenue South/2nd Avenue South Loop was retained as a design alternative.

Please see the Endorsed Screen Three Memo for additional details.

The recommendations of Screen Three were presented to the public during an August 17th Citizen Forum in the Greater Gateway area as well as at two Stakeholder Forums, both held on August 23rd at PSTA's headquarters. The background of the project, results of Screen One and Screen Two, recommendations of Screen Three, and next steps leading up to the Draft Locally Preferred Alternative (LPA) were presented on a set of Display Boards. They are available below.
